AVPD Rolls Out Pink Ribbon Cruiser

Amberley Village Police Department recently unveiled its Pink Ribbon Car to bring attention to the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness. Chief Richard Wallace, a 26-year veteran of AVPD, knows firsthand its impact on lives. “My wife Kim is a breast cancer survivor,” he says. “To recognize the strength and bravery of those who have battled, are battling or who have lost their battle to this disease is something close to our hearts.”

Residents, visitors, and people from neighboring communities are invited to sign the hood of the Pink Ribbon Cruiser through October 31 to show their support. The Village is also encouraging participants to consider a donation to the Pink Ribbon Girls, which offers meals, rides, and peer support to breast cancer patients and survivors. According to Chief Wallace, “the Pink Ribbon Girls were instrumental in our journey through treatment, so this is just another way we can increase awareness and support others as they navigate their way.”

Village Council members each signed the car at its meeting on October 12 when it was parked outside the Municipal Building. Their goal was to draw attention to the campaign and encourage additional support.
