Council Members

The Amberley Village Council consists of seven members who are elected for a two-year term.  Five are elected from geographic districts, and two are at-large.  The Mayor is elected by the Council members. 

Following are the Council members serving for the elected term ending November 30, 2013.  Click for information about the Council's committee structure.  Council also appoints a Treasurer and a Solicitor.

Council Biographical Information

Mayor J.K. Byar
Mayor JK ByarMr. Byar is serving his first term on council and as Mayor. 

Mr. Byar holds a BA degree in Political Science from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.  His professional interests include economics, history, art and international studies.  Currently, he works as a local businessman, entrepreneur and financial advisor. 

Mr. Byar served on the Amberley Village Citizen Advisory Committee regarding the potential development of the Amberley Green property.  He initiated the process of energy aggregation for the village residents.  He was also involved with the successful negotiation of renovation and re-development of the new tennis facilities on the Amberley Green for the benefit of Mt. Notre Dame and the village residents.


Vice Mayor Natalie Wolf
Natalie is serving his first term on council and as Vice Mayor. 

Vice Mayor Natalie WolfShe received her BA degree from Indiana University in 1985 and was awarded her JD in 1988 from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.  Natalie practiced law in the areas of personal injury and workers' compensation with the Rothchild Law Office.  

Natalie has served on the Board of Trustees of the Yavneh Day School, including past president of the Yavneh Parent Teachers' Organization as well as numerous committees of the Mayerson JCC.  An avid runner herself, she has chaired and participated on the planning committees for 5k and 10k road races for both Hadassah and the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education.  In 2008 she was a chaperone for the Cincinnati delegation of the March of the Living, and has participated in Election Protection for the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections.

Natalie enjoys running marathons and baking.  She is married to Scott and they live with their three children Freddie, Adam and Sarah and their two dogs Kimo and Olympia on Beech Hollow Drive.


Richard Bardach
Council Member Richard BardachRichard is serving his first term on council.   

He received his BA degree in journalism from the Ohio State University, and graduated from the Ohio Northern University College of Law in 1995.  Currently, he is practicting law with the Phillips Law Firm, concentrating his practice in real estate, foreclosure, creditors' rights and litigation.

Richard enjoys taking long hikes with the family dogs and is married to Stacy Lefton.  Ms. Lefton performs the duties of prosecutor for Hamilton County and Amberley Village.


Bill Doering
Bill is serving his first term on council. A native of Cincinnati, Bill graduated from St. Xavier High School and Xavier University witha degree in Economics.

Council Member Bill DoeringAfter working for Provident Bank for eight years, Bill worked for the University of Cincinnati in the Finance division for 33 years, retiring in 2011 as Treasurer.  During his career at UC, areas that reported to him included Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Bursar, Tax Compliance, Credit Card Processing, Investment Accounting and Treasury Management.

Bill has lived in Amberley Village in the Brookwood subdivision for over 35 years and has been married to Kathy for over 36 years.  They have two grown sons and two granddaughters.


Edward Hattenbach
Elected in 2009, Mr. Hattenbach is serving his second term on Council and continues to participate as a member of the Environmental Stewardship Committee.  A native Cincinnatian, Mr. Hattenbach moved to Amberley Village with his wife, Shelley, in 1994.  They have two children and two grandsons.  Council Member Ed Hattenbach

A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Hattenbach has been in practice for over 20 years in Anderson Township, where he has been an officer and board member of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce and belongs to other business and civic organizations.  He is a past president of B'nai Brith and Adath Israel Men's Club.

Ed graduated from Woodward High School and received a BBA from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Xavier University.  Ed is a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star.


Tom Muething
Tom is serving his first term on council.

Council Member Tom MuethingTom received his BSBA in accounting from Xavier University. After 30 years working for a multinational company serving in various financial related jobs, he is now retired and enjoys golf, hiking and working in his yard.

Tom also serves as President of Ohio Valley Voices, a school for deaf children.

om has been married to Cindy for 29 years and has five children ranging in age from 17 to 28.


Ray Warren
Ray is serving his first term on council. 

Council Member Ray WarrenHe received his Ph.D. in Biology from Roswell Park Memorial Institute/SUNY Buffalo, and BS in Biochemistry from SUNY Stony Brook and has been employed at Procter & Gamble since 1982.

Ray enjoys biking, jogging, reading and photography.  He was a founding board member of the Center for Holocaust and Humanities Education, served as a board member for the Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati and has volunteered at the Cedar Village Senior Center.

Ray is married to Nancy and has three children.
